Kotli (Hayat News) The anti-polio campaign in Kotli district will start on April 21 and will end on April 25, 2020. A meeting was held under the chairmanship of DC Major (retd) Nasir Rafique to review the arrangements for the anti-polio campaign – During the campaign, one lakh 44 thousand children under the age of five years will be administered polio drops across the district.
Addressing the meeting, the DC praised the performance of the health department and said that this is the reason why Azad Kashmir is polio free. He said that all concerned departments must play their role to control polio.
He directed all the Assistant Commissioners to hold daily evening meetings in their respective tehsils during the polio campaign and check the progress, there should be no hindrance in the work. In case of refusal of any parent to vaccinate their child, convince them.
Ensure 100 percent coverage of vaccination and update me every day during the campaign. He directed the Local Government Department to involve the officials of every union council and the concerned local government representatives during the campaign.
The DC has appealed to the parents to make it mandatory for their children to be vaccinated with polio drops during every polio campaign so that they can be protected from this disabling disease.
He said that protecting children from polio and eradicating this virus from the country is the top priority of the Azad Kashmir government. DHO Dr. Shafqat Shah told the meeting that the target is to vaccinate one lakh forty-four (144,000) thousand children during this campaign and 556 teams have been formed for this purpose.
He said that it is important for the parents not to miss any opportunity to vaccinate their children with polio drops and consider it a national duty and participate fully in every polio campaign.
