Muzaffarabad (Hayat News): There is a severe water crisis in the posh area of Upper Chhatar Housing Scheme, Muzaffarabad, and surrounding areas of the capital, Muzaffarabad. There has been no water supply for three days. Instead of water, the taps started making noises. In the intense heat, the people are deprived of water facilities, and the area started presenting a scene of Karbala.
The officials of the water supply department have also stopped picking up the phones of the citizens. No notice is taken of the complaints of the people. The citizens are forced to make rounds of the Upper Chhatar Water Supply office; the staff is harassing the people by making excuses of power outages and non-running motors.
The Exxon, SDO, and other staff are not interested, and the staff is not questioned. Water is being sold through tankers at a high price. Water is supplied through tankers to citizens who pay more money. While ordinary citizens are not provided with water tankers with less money, due to which the citizens of Upper Chhattar have faced severe difficulties.
Even if ordinary citizens pay money, they have to bear the brunt of the wrath of the Water Supply Department officials. The officers of the Water Supply Department should take strict action against the officials who are guilty of negligence. Every year, a water crisis is deliberately created in the summer. And the Water Supply Department has made it a habit to harass the people.
The citizens said that the water crisis after the expansion of the Makri plants is a question mark on the overall performance of the government and the officials of the Water Supply Department. The citizens further said that if reforms are not made, there will be a strong protest against the Water Supply Department. The entire responsibility for which will fall on the government.
