The Capital Development Authority (CDA) has accused 58 employees of securing government jobs through fake educational certificates, prompting the Federal Investigation Agency’s (FIA) Anti-Corruption Circle in Islamabad to register a case and begin a formal investigation.
According to the inquiry, the individuals allegedly obtained positions from grade 5 to grade 14 in violation of the provincial merit quota. The roles acquired through the forged credentials include security guards, drivers, lift operators, and tube-well operators.
This incident adds to a series of past recruitment controversies within the CDA, exposing persistent weaknesses in the authority’s verification and hiring systems.
In 2017, the CDA acted against five employees for submitting fraudulent matric and intermediate certificates, resulting in formal FIRs.
In 2019, six officials were dismissed under service regulations after being found with fake academic documents.
The FIA’s investigation into the latest case is ongoing, with further developments anticipated. The scandal once again raises serious questions about transparency and oversight in CDA’s recruitment procedures.
