The directions were issued by Director General Raja Shahid Hussain during a two-day visit to the district. He inspected Ramkot Fort, Mangla View Park, Jeri Dam, Dhan Galli and several departmental sites along the Upper Jhelum Canal Road and at Mangla Upper Head.

At Ramkot Fort, he reviewed restoration work, resort construction, fencing, access road repairs, landscaping and signage. The private firm managing the fort under a lease agreement briefed him on progress, and he sought an explanation for delays while directing the firm to meet the lease terms.

He said the fort was an important part of the region’s historical and tourism heritage, adding that its historical character must be preserved while improving visitor facilities. He also inspected Mangla View Park near Dadyal and instructed its management to upgrade recreational facilities and cleanliness.

The director general also met Mirpur Divisional Commissioner Raja Tahir Mumtaz to discuss a joint strategy for promoting tourism, including cultural and tourism festivals to showcase local arts and heritage.
