Sri Lanka Chase 430 to Beat England in Historic ODI Win
Sri Lanka chased down 430 to beat England by two wickets at Rawalpindi, completing the second-highest successful run chase in ODI history.
By: hammadkhaksarThe Pakistan captain's three fifties carried him past Abhishek Sharma's mark, capping Pakistan's 2-1 series win over Sri Lanka with a record.

Pakistan captain Sahibzada Farhan has set a new benchmark in T20 international cricket, scoring 238 runs across the three-match series against Sri Lanka — the most by any batter in a bilateral three-match men’s T20I series between two Full Member nations, according to the ICC.
Farhan completed the feat with his third consecutive half-century, a 76 off 47 balls in the final T20I at the Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium on Tuesday, moving past India’s Abhishek Sharma, who had scored 229 runs against Afghanistan earlier this year.

Series wrapped up 2-1
Pakistan sealed the series 2-1, having already taken an unassailable lead with emphatic wins in the first two matches. The hosts won the opener by four wickets on October 9, powered by Farhan’s 89, before a dominant 82-run victory on October 11, when Maaz Sadaqat smashed 96 off 51 deliveries and Imran Randhawa claimed three wickets.
The final match saw Sri Lanka bounce back with an eight-wicket win, chasing down Pakistan’s 168 for eight with 17 balls to spare. Put in to bat, Pakistan stumbled to 102 for six before Farhan and Arafat Minhas, unbeaten on 34 from 20 balls, put on 66 for the seventh wicket to lift the total.
Sri Lanka’s chase was anchored by captain Kusal Mendis, whose unbeaten 87 off 48 balls, combined with Kamindu Mendis’ 40 not out off 27, produced an unbroken 98-run partnership that carried the visitors to 172 for two in just 17.1 overs.

Hesson looks ahead to tri-series
Head coach Mike Hesson treated the defeat as a learning exercise, saying the series had given the management a chance to test squad depth ahead of the ODI tri-series involving Sri Lanka and England, which begins on Sunday and runs from October 18 to 31 in Rawalpindi and Lahore.
Hesson acknowledged Pakistan had left themselves 20 to 30 runs short in the middle overs, and praised Sri Lanka for adapting better on the night. He added that Farhan’s leadership had grown through the series and that the captain’s development would continue as he gained confidence and learned to read the game.
The tri-series final is scheduled at Lahore’s Gaddafi Stadium, and with world top-ranked England in the mix, Pakistan face a demanding test of their white-ball progress. For now, though, the series belongs to Farhan — a captain whose bat wrote the headlines.
