ISLAMABAD (Hayat News): Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT) Police have arrested five individuals and seized a significant stock of illegal Arms weapons as part of their ongoing “Arms-Free Islamabad” drive.
According to an official statement issued on Thursday, the operation was conducted under the supervision of SSP Operations Qazi Ali Raza. A team from Tarnol Police Station carried out a targeted raid, leading to the arrest of suspects allegedly involved in the unlawful possession of firearms.
During the crackdown, police recovered five automatic machine guns, one repeater gun, 10 pistols of various calibers, bulletproof jackets, and a substantial quantity of ammunition.
DIG Muhammad Jawad Tariq reaffirmed that Islamabad Police are pursuing a zero-tolerance policy against illegal arms and their public display. He stressed that such activities pose a grave risk to public safety and will be dealt with strictly in accordance with the law.
He added that, following directives from the Inspector General of Islamabad, enforcement actions under the “Arms-Free Islamabad” campaign are ongoing throughout the federal capital to prevent the circulation of illegal weapons and safeguard the lives and property of citizens.
Police have registered cases against the arrested suspects, and further investigations are currently in progress.
