Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Sohail Afridi on Wednesday declared the creation of an “Imran Khan Release Force,” describing it as a platform for a peaceful movement aimed at securing the release of the founder of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI).
Addressing reporters outside the Supreme Court of Pakistan in Islamabad, Afridi said the PTI founder had entrusted Allama Nasir Abbas and Mehmood Achakzai with the responsibility of steering negotiations and organizing public mobilization efforts.

Although the party leadership has withdrawn its earlier protest call, Afridi indicated that groundwork for a larger, coordinated movement would continue.
He explained that the newly proposed force would pursue its objectives through non-violent means, focusing on the release of the former prime minister. Nationwide membership will soon be opened, drawing participants from the Insaf Student Federation (ISF), Insaf Youth Wing, Women Wing, Minority Wing, professionals, and other segments of society.
According to Afridi, membership cards are expected to be issued within four to five days, and members will take an oath in Peshawar following Eid Al Fitr.
The force will operate under a clearly defined chain of command, with its leadership to be appointed by the PTI founder. “We will finalize our preparations before formally launching the next phase,” Afridi said, adding that the movement would advocate for constitutional supremacy, democratic values, and freedom of the media.
He also alleged that court directives were being disregarded and claimed that the PTI founder’s personal doctors were not being permitted to conduct medical examinations.
Afridi concluded by stating that the “Imran Khan Release Force” would cease to exist once the former premier is freed.
