In a statement released by the Inter-Services Public Relations, the operation was described as a response to what Pakistan termed unprovoked aggression from India. The statement emphasized that the action demonstrated the country’s defensive capability, preparedness, and resolve.
Syed Asim Munir, Naveed Ashraf, and Zaheer Ahmed Babar Sidhu paid homage to the officers and personnel involved, commending their professionalism, bravery, and commitment to duty.
According to the military’s media wing, the armed forces displayed a high level of operational readiness during the 2019 episode, preventing further escalation and restoring what it called strategic equilibrium in the region.
The statement further reiterated that Pakistan’s armed forces remain vigilant and fully prepared to counter any threat. It stressed that while national security remains paramount, Pakistan continues to support efforts aimed at maintaining regional and global peace.
Operation Swift Retaliation came in the wake of heightened tensions between Pakistan and India in 2019, which included aerial engagements. During the standoff, an Indian pilot was captured and later released by Pakistan as a gesture intended to ease tensions.
