ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif will embark on a four-day visit to Saudi Arabia from March 19 to 22, aiming to bolster economic collaboration, enhance trade partnerships, and attract investment between the two nations.
According to a statement from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MoFA), PM Shehbaz is scheduled to meet Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman. Their discussions will focus on expanding trade, strengthening cooperation in key sectors, and fostering deeper economic ties.
“The leaders will also exchange views on matters of mutual concern, including global and regional developments,” the statement noted.
The visit highlights the longstanding and close relationship between Pakistan and Saudi Arabia. It is expected to pave the way for greater mutual understanding, enhanced investment opportunities, and stronger diplomatic coordination on both regional and global fronts.
PM Shehbaz is traveling at the invitation of the Saudi crown prince. During his stay, he is also expected to visit Makkah and Madina, as well as Jeddah, where he will meet King Salman bin Abdul Aziz.
Notably, in October 2024, the prime minister had previously visited Saudi Arabia to participate in the 8th Future Investment Initiative (FII), hosted under the patronage of King Salman.
That same month, Pakistan and Saudi Arabia signed multiple agreements worth over $2 billion during a visit by a high-level Saudi delegation led by Minister for Investment Khalid bin Abdulaziz Al-Falih.
These agreements encompassed a $70 million investment in Pakistan’s agriculture sector, plans for advanced semiconductor chip manufacturing, a textile industry initiative, a white oil pipeline project, and a memorandum of understanding (MoU) for exploring further investment opportunities. Additionally, the deals included a hybrid power project, the development of transformer manufacturing facilities, cybersecurity collaboration, and the export of Pakistani spices and vegetables.
This upcoming visit is expected to build on these agreements and further deepen economic and strategic ties between the two nations.
Hoping this visit opens new doors for economic cooperation between Pakistan and Saudi Arabia.
