Protest demonstrations continue as families demand justice
An Anti-Terrorism Court in Abbottabad has extended the police remand of four suspects involved in the murder of Dr. Warda by an additional three days after concluding Friday’s proceedings.
The suspects — Rida, Waheed, Nadeem, and Parvez — remain in the custody of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Police.
Rida, a close friend of Dr. Warda, was the first to be taken into custody after the doctor went missing. Police say she accompanied Dr. Warda from the hospital days before the incident and later took her to an under-construction house, where she allegedly handed her over to Nadeem.
Based on information obtained during interrogation, the police recovered Dr. Warda’s body and moved it to DHQ Hospital for autopsy. She was laid to rest on December 8 in the cantonment graveyard after her funeral prayers.
Meanwhile, protests continued at Benazir Shaheed Hospital, bringing routine medical services to a halt as colleagues demanded strict punishment for those involved.
KP Government Constitutes JIT for Investigation
The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government has set up a Joint Investigation Team (JIT) to probe the circumstances surrounding the murder.
The JIT, led by Khayyam Hussain with additional IG Sonia Shamroz and other members, has recorded statements from multiple individuals connected to the case. The compiled findings have been submitted to the regional authorities for further action.
