ISLAMABAD, On Monday, the federal government inaugurated a state-of-the-art ‘Media Facilitation Center’ aimed at assisting both international and local media during Pakistan’s first-ever hosting of the Shanghai Collaboration Association (SCO) Highest point, planned for October 15-16, 2024.
The facility, set up at the Pak-China Friendship Center, was unveiled by the Minister for Information and Broadcasting, alongside senior officials from the ministry. The center has been adorned with visual displays, banners, and decorative elements that reflect the cultural and national symbols of the SCO member countries participating in the two-day summit.
The conference will feature high-level participation from nine full member countries, including the prime ministers of China, Russia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, and Uzbekistan, as well as the vice president of Iran and India’s external affairs minister.
The SCO, established in 2001 by China and Russia to address regional security issues, continues to foster collaboration in Central Asia and beyond.
The newly-launched media center includes large SMD screens displaying banners of SCO member states, along with a dedicated multimedia section showcasing Pakistan’s stunning landscapes and rich cultural heritage. In addition, the Ministry has set up an exhibition featuring literature on notable literary figures, cultural history, archaeological sites, and tourism opportunities, providing valuable information to both international media and visiting dignitaries.
The center is equipped with high-speed WiFi, studio space, and printing services to cater to media needs. Member of the National Assembly, Barrister Daniyal Chaudhary, toured the facility’s various stalls and the cafeteria, expressing his appreciation for the Ministry’s efforts in establishing this world-class facility to support the summit.
