Spanish authorities have arrested 10 Pakistani nationals in Barcelona on terrorism-related charges. Reports indicate that the suspects were part of an extremist network that spread violent propaganda through online messaging platforms.
As part of the same investigation, an additional suspect was apprehended in Italy. The arrests took place during a coordinated operation on the night of March 3.
According to an official statement cited in media reports, the operation was carried out jointly by the Mossos d’Esquadra (Catalan police), the Spanish National Police, and Italian law enforcement.
This latest crackdown follows previous arrests of five individuals in 2022 and 14 in 2023, bringing the total number of detainees linked to the case to 30.
Authorities have ruled out international ties, stating that the network operated exclusively within Spain. The suspected leader of the group is identified as a 55-year-old Pakistani national.
Investigators claim the suspects promoted extremist ideologies through social media. They appeared in court on March 6, facing charges including facilitating terrorism, financing extremist activities, and recruitment for terrorist operations.
