Security forces successfully eliminated three terrorists in North Waziristan during an intelligence-based operation (IBO), the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) confirmed on Friday.
According to the military’s media wing, the operation took place in the Datta Khel area on the night of February 6-7 after reports of terrorist presence in the region. The terrorists, attempting to flee disguised in burqas, were intercepted and neutralized by the security forces.
“During the operation, troops effectively engaged the hostile elements, eliminating three terrorists who were trying to escape in women’s attire,” the ISPR statement read.
Weapons and ammunition were recovered from the slain militants, who had been involved in multiple terrorist activities in the area. A follow-up sanitization operation is underway to ensure the complete eradication of any remaining threats. The security forces reaffirmed their commitment to eliminating terrorism from Pakistan.
The country has witnessed a significant rise in militant attacks, with a 42% surge in incidents reported in January 2025 compared to the previous month, according to the Pakistan Institute for Conflict and Security Studies (PICSS).
