The exercise, titled Pakistan–Sri Lanka Bilateral Exercise Shake Hands-II, officially started on April 27 and brings together elite units from both sides. Troops from the Pakistan Army Special Services Group are participating alongside Special Forces from the Sri Lanka Army.
According to the military’s media wing, the drill is designed to boost operational readiness through joint training while reinforcing long-standing defense ties between the two countries. The exercise will focus on sharing expertise, refining counter-terrorism tactics, and improving coordination between the participating forces.
Officials added that such engagements help build interoperability and deepen mutual understanding by allowing troops to learn from each other’s field experiences.
The development follows a series of recent military collaborations by Pakistan, including a joint counter-terrorism exercise with Egypt and participation in multinational and bilateral drills with Saudi Arabia and the United States earlier this year.
