SARGODHA: A 22-year-old woman was brutally gang-raped by five men under the false promise of a job abroad and later abandoned at the DHQ Teaching Hospital in critical condition.
Due to the severity of her injuries, doctors referred her to Lahore for advanced medical care. According to medical staff, the victim sustained internal injuries and fractures.
The victim’s father stated that the prime suspect tricked his daughter with the offer of overseas employment and, along with four accomplices, assaulted her. When they realized her condition was deteriorating, they fled, leaving her at the hospital. He further revealed that the suspect threatened to kill him if he reported the crime.
Taking notice of the incident, District Police Officer (DPO) Sohaib Ashraf ordered an immediate arrest of the culprits and assured the victim’s father that justice would be served. The father also appealed to Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz for justice.
Father-in-Law Kills Daughter-in-Law in Kot Momin
KOT MOMIN: A young woman, Nadia (22), was brutally murdered by her father-in-law, Ahmed Khan Haral, in Chak No. 66.
According to police, Haral took Nadia outside and killed her using a sharp-edged weapon. Her uncle, Noor Zaman, reported that she was struck on the head. A case has been registered, but the motive behind the killing remains unknown.
Fire Breaks Out in Sargodha Church
SARGODHA: A fire erupted in a church on Kot Farid Road, Basti Eidgah, due to a short circuit, damaging a tent and a room.
Rescue 1122 responded swiftly and managed to control the blaze, preventing further destruction to the church building.
Seminar on Islamophobia Held at University of Sargodha
SARGODHA: The University of Sargodha (UoS) hosted a session on “Islamophobia: Prospects, Challenges, and the OIC’s Strategic Response” under the Model Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (MOIC) initiative.
The event aimed to raise awareness about Islamophobia and the role of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) in countering it. Students shared their perspectives, highlighting the need for global efforts to combat the rising discrimination against Muslims.
Associate Professor Dr Adeel Irfan Rao, columnist Afzaal Ahmad, and Iqra Zafar served as judges. Intellectual Forum president Naeem Khpalwak and former president Mohammad Zubair were also present.
During his address, Dr Rao emphasized that Islamophobia is not just a concern for Muslims but a global issue impacting peace and stability. He urged the OIC to play a proactive role in addressing this challenge through collective international efforts.
Afzaal Ahmad and Naeem Khpalwak also spoke, reinforcing the need for unity and strategic action to combat Islamophobia effectively.
