A large gathering, including the Afghan Consul General, attended the funeral of Maulana Hamidul Haq Haqqani, the chief of Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (JUI-S), who was tragically martyred in a suicide bombing at Darul Uloom Haqqania in Akora Khattak, Nowshera.

The deadly attack, which took place after Friday prayers, claimed the life of Maulana Hamidul Haq along with several others.

Heavy Security at Funeral Prayers

Following the tragic incident, a massive crowd gathered at the madrassa, where the funeral prayers for Maulana Hamidul Haq were led by his son, Maulana Sahibzada Abdul Haq Sani.

Stringent security measures were enforced at Darul Uloom Haqqania, with police forces heavily deployed around the area. Scanners were also installed at the entry points to ensure safety.

Funerals of Other Victims Also Held

In addition to Maulana Hamidul Haq’s funeral, the last rites of two other martyrs were also observed.

  • Abdul Waheed, a resident of Swabi, was laid to rest in his native village of Zida.
  • Tajamul Shah (Tajamul Farhan), a poet and writer, was buried in his hometown of Jalsai.

Police Chief Visits Nowshera to Assess Security

Inspector General of Police Zulfiqar Hameed traveled to Nowshera to oversee security arrangements for the funeral of the deputy head of Darul Uloom Haqqania.

He also attended a high-level security meeting at the DPO office, where he was briefed by regional police officers, investigators, and Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) officials on the progress of the attack investigation.

Authorities Vow to Bring Perpetrators to Justice

During the meeting, the Inspector General strongly condemned the attack, describing it as a cowardly act by the enemies of the nation.

He urged law enforcement officers to utilize all resources to track down the perpetrators and ensure they face justice.

Assuring the public, he stated that such acts of terrorism would not shake the country’s resolve, adding that police and citizens would work together to thwart future threats and restore peace.
