DI KHAN— Security forces eliminated two terrorists, including a Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) commander, during an intelligence-based operation (IBO) in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s Tank district on Saturday. The slain militant was identified as Commander Hanzala.
An injured militant was also captured during the operation and provided critical intelligence on the network’s hideouts and operatives, prompting a wider search in the area. Security has since been heightened with additional checkpoints at Tank’s entry and exit points.
Separately, police thwarted a terrorist attack on Gambella Police Station in Lakki district. A group of 10-12 militants had surrounded the station in the early hours of Saturday but were forced to retreat after a swift police response.
In Bajaur, militants detonated a remote-controlled IED in Sorbat Nalai, injuring a civilian, Subhan Ullah, who was rushed to District Headquarters Hospital in Khar. Authorities cordoned off the area and launched an investigation.
North Waziristan Attack Victim DSP Rukhmeen Khan Martyred
Meanwhile, DSP Rukhmeen Khan, critically injured in a terrorist ambush in North Waziristan on July 4, succumbed to his wounds at Mission Hospital Peshawar on Saturday.
His funeral was held with full state honors at Malik Saad Shaheed Police Lines. Khyber Pakhtunkhwa IGP Zulfiqar Hameed, CCPO Qasim Ali Khan, and senior police officials attended the service and paid rich tributes to the slain officer’s bravery and dedication. Floral wreaths were laid on his coffin, and prayers were offered for his soul.
