Operation Targets India-Backed Network as Azm-e-Istehkam Push Intensifie
Security forces neutralised 22 members of the Indian-backed Fitna al-Khawarij group during an intelligence-based operation (IBO) in Dera Ismail Khan on November 26, the military’s media wing reported on Thursday.
In its statement, the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said that troops struck the terrorists’ hideout and engaged them in a fierce gun battle.
“Twenty-two Khawarij have been dispatched to hell,” the ISPR noted.
A clearance and sanitisation operation is currently underway to secure the area and track down any remaining elements associated with the network.
According to the military, the action forms part of Pakistan’s broader counterterrorism initiative under Azm-e-Istehkam, a strategy endorsed by the Federal Apex Committee to reinforce the National Action Plan.
The ISPR added that security forces and law-enforcement agencies are pressing ahead “at full speed” to eradicate all forms of foreign-backed terrorism from the country.
