Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) on Tuesday announced that dense fog had disrupted its flight operations in four major Punjab cities — Lahore, Multan, Sialkot and Faisalabad — impacting both domestic and international services.
In an official statement, the national flag carrier advised passengers to check the latest flight updates before heading to airports, as weather-related adjustments had been made to the schedule.
A PIA spokesperson said the temporary changes were implemented to prioritise passenger safety and minimise operational delays. He explained that reduced visibility caused by dense fog created difficulties during aircraft landings and takeoffs.
Passengers were encouraged to stay informed by contacting the PIA helpline for real-time updates on their flight status.
Meanwhile, the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD), in its weekly weather forecast, predicted cold and dry conditions across most parts of the country. The department also warned that moderate to dense fog and smog were likely to continue in Punjab, upper Sindh and the plain areas of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
Earlier, the Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) had issued an alert, forecasting severe smog and fog across Punjab from December 12 to 16, and advised the public to take necessary precautions.
