DERA ISMAIL KHAN: Six police personnel were martyred and five Indian-backed militants were killed in an attack on a police training school in DI Khan, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, on the night of October 10-11, according to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR). Additionally, 12 policemen and one civilian sustained injuries in the “heinous attack.”

The military’s media wing reported that terrorists, identified as members of the Indian proxy Fitna al-Khwarij, attempted to breach the training facility’s perimeter. Their initial efforts were thwarted by vigilant law enforcement, but the attackers then rammed an explosive-laden vehicle into the gate. Police personnel bravely engaged the intruders, eliminating three terrorists. The remaining two were cornered and neutralized during a subsequent clearance operation.

Tragically, six brave policemen, including trainees, embraced martyrdom after a heroic fight. The ISPR also highlighted that the attackers desecrated the mosque within the school complex and barbarically killed the imam, an innocent civilian.

Sanitization operations are ongoing to bring the perpetrators of this “heinous and cowardly act” to justice. The ISPR reiterated that Pakistan’s security forces and law enforcement, alongside the nation, remain steadfast in their resolve to eradicate Indian-sponsored terrorism, with such sacrifices further strengthening their commitment to safeguarding the nation.

Earlier, Deputy Superintendent of Police Hafiz Muhammad Adnan stated that police and security forces successfully repelled the militants, confirming that all terrorists involved were eliminated. The attack commenced around 8:30 PM, with the operation continuing late into the night.

Widespread Condemnation and Resolve

The attack drew strong condemnation from across the nation. President Asif Ali Zardari strongly condemned the terrorist attack, paying tribute to the martyred police personnel and expressing sympathies with their families. He praised the sacrifices of the brave personnel and the timely, bold response of the police and security forces, reiterating national unity in the fight against terrorism.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif also condemned the “cowardly act of violence,” honoring the sacrifice of the martyred police officers and offering prayers for their families and the speedy recovery of the injured. He lauded the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa police’s frontline role in counter-terrorism and reaffirmed the government’s resolve to eradicate all forms of terrorism.

Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi echoed these sentiments, praising the courage and determination of the police force. He stated that the officers laid down their lives to foil the attack, turning the terrorists’ nefarious designs into dust. Naqvi emphasized the unparalleled sacrifices made by the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa police and affirmed the nation’s unwavering resolve against terrorism.

Acting Senate Chairman Syedaal Khan also condemned the attack, asserting that terrorists aiming to destabilize the country would not succeed. He praised the bravery of the police and stressed national unity against terrorism, declaring that the blood of the brave sentinels would not go in vain.
