NADRA Officer Shot Dead Outside Hayatabad OfficePakistan
Police say Deputy Assistant Director Fahad was attacked near the NADRA office parking area in Peshawar’s Hayatabad Phase 5, and an investigation is under way.

A senior officer of the National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) was shot dead in Peshawar on Friday, police said, in an attack outside the authority’s office in the Hayatabad area.
The victim was identified by police as Fahad, a deputy assistant director at NADRA. According to police, he had parked his vehicle and was walking towards the office when he came under attack near the parking area of the NADRA office in Hayatabad Phase 5.
Police said the attackers have not yet been identified, and the motive behind the killing was not immediately known. An investigation is under way to establish the circumstances of the shooting and to trace those responsible, officials said.
Investigation under way
Police reached the scene after the shooting and began collecting evidence. According to reports, investigators are examining CCTV footage from the office parking area to help identify the suspects involved in the attack.
Early indications suggested the shooting may have stemmed from personal enmity, police said, although officials stressed that no conclusion has been reached and all angles are being examined. No arrests had been reported by the time the reports were published.
NADRA is the federal authority responsible for maintaining Pakistan’s national identity database and issuing computerised national identity cards. Its offices across the country handle identity registration for millions of citizens, and its officers work in direct contact with the public every day.
Hayatabad is one of Peshawar’s largest residential townships, home to government offices, hospitals and educational institutions as well as thousands of families. The NADRA office in Phase 5 serves residents from across the area, and its parking area is busy throughout the working day.
Officials said the body was shifted for legal formalities and that a case would be registered once the family formally reports the incident, as is the usual procedure in such cases. Police have appealed to anyone with information about the shooting to come forward, and investigators said they would also speak to the victim’s colleagues and family to help establish a motive.
The killing has raised fresh concern about the safety of government officials in Peshawar, the capital of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, a province that has faced persistent security challenges. Police said further details would be shared as the investigation progresses.
