Punjab announces 285 scholarships for nursing faculty: 15 PhDs abroad and 270 MScN places at recognised Pakistani universities.

LAHORE — A major higher-education opportunity has opened up for nursing teachers in Punjab. The provincial government has announced a total of 285 postgraduate scholarships for faculty members serving in government nursing institutions, and invited applications.
The scholarships comprise 15 PhD places and 270 Master of Science in Nursing (MScN) places. PhD scholars will get doctoral education and research opportunities at international universities, while MScN places will be offered through recognised universities in Pakistan.
The initiative comes under the Punjab Nursing and Health Workforce Reform Programme. The aim is not just a degree: it is to improve nursing teachers’ teaching ability and research skills as well, so that nursing students receive quality education and training.
The whole scholarship process will be overseen by the Programme Implementation Unit (PIU), which works under the Specialized Healthcare and Medical Education Department. The government will award scholarships in phases until the approved number of places is filled.
Only faculty members serving in the province’s government nursing institutions can apply, and they must meet the academic and professional conditions of their chosen programme. Before applying, candidates should review the detailed eligibility criteria on the programme’s official website (piuhealthpunjab.com).
The procedure is: first check eligibility and application details on the website, then fill in the prescribed form and prepare the required documents, including educational credentials and the details of the relevant university and programme. Candidates who have already received an admission offer from a university should also attach the offer letter.
The complete application must reach the Programme Implementation Unit through the Directorate General Nursing (DG Nursing). The government has made it clear that documents should not be sent directly to the PIU, but submitted through the designated office.
One important point: faculty members who have already applied for admission to a recognised university, received an admission offer, or already secured admission can also submit their documents. But getting university admission does not mean the scholarship is guaranteed — every application will be assessed under the prescribed conditions, and the final decision rests with the Programme Implementation Unit.
