Mirpur (Hayat News) Commissioner Mirpur Division Chaudhry Mukhtar Hussain has directed the Deputy Commissioners of the three districts to take immediate action against those who install more seats than the approved number in passenger vehicles.
By installing more seats, not only traffic rules are being violated but also illegal profiteering is being done. Due to the last days of Ramadan and Eid holidays, transporters also charge more fares for passengers and seat more than the prescribed number of seats, due to which there are fears of fights and law and order problems.
Therefore, Deputy Commissioners should impose a ban under Section 144 on installing additional seats in public service vehicles in their respective districts and action should be taken against the violators as per the law.
In light of the orders of Commissioner Mirpur Division Chaudhry Mukhtar Hussain, the magistrates in Mirpur, Bhimber and Kotli are continuing a vigorous campaign against public transport fare hikers and those who overbook their journeys. Fines will also be imposed on most of them.
The magistrates have also directed the owners of the bus stands that if traffic rules are violated, the vehicles can be confiscated. Therefore, the transporters should collect the fare fixed from the passengers as per the law and not allow any irregularities and loading should also be eliminated.
