Kamran Qureshi, father of Armaghan, has urged authorities to ensure that his son faces justice if found guilty in the Mustafa Amer murder case. Speaking while in police custody, he also expressed deep remorse and extended an apology to the grieving parents of the deceased.

Qureshi stated that his pursuit of the truth led him to an emotional outburst, but he is gradually piecing together the reality of the situation. He emphasized that if his son is responsible for the crime, he should be punished according to the law. Offering his condolences to the victim’s parents, he specifically addressed Wajiha and her husband, acknowledging their pain.

The Anti-Violent Crime Cell (AVCC) arrested Kamran Qureshi on Thursday, citing his involvement in the case. Law enforcement officials describe him as a challenging detainee due to his inconsistent statements and volatile behavior. Reports indicate that he has made threats against government attorneys and journalists in court, leading his legal counsel to withdraw representation.

During court proceedings, Qureshi disrupted sessions multiple times, even entering judges’ chambers uninvited. Investigators have also seized illegal firearms and narcotics from his possession. Additionally, Armaghan reportedly admitted that his father assisted in covering up the crime.

Videos showing Kamran Qureshi brandishing weapons, engaging in heated altercations, and posing in a confrontational manner have gone viral on social media, fueling public outrage. Authorities continue their investigation, anticipating further developments.

Arrest and Raid in Defence Area

In a coordinated operation, the AVCC and CIA police raided a bungalow on 7th Street, Khayaban-e-Momin Phase 5, Gizri, arresting Kamran Qureshi on charges of drug trafficking. Law enforcement seized 200 grams of crystal meth (ice) and a 9mm pistol with two magazines and ten rounds of ammunition.

DIG CIA Mukaddas Haider confirmed that Qureshi is also under investigation for a police encounter case. During the raid, officers faced intense gunfire, and evidence suggests Qureshi was directly linked to acquiring illegal weapons used in the attack on police. Investigators have retrieved video footage of him purchasing firearms, alongside incriminating data from his mobile phone.

Meanwhile, Aaj News secured a video confession from Sahir Hassan, who was arrested for selling drugs in Karachi. Hassan stated that he sourced the drugs from a contact named Yahya in Islamabad, denying any close association with Armaghan and insisting he only knew Mustafa Amir. However, he admitted to first meeting Mustafa in 2022 through mutual friend Moazzam Patel, where they shared imported marijuana.

Updates on the Mustafa Murder Case

The case surrounding Mustafa Amir’s abduction and murder has dominated news headlines. As reporting on such incidents can shape public perception even before a court verdict, it remains crucial to present a balanced account based on verified sources.

Mustafa Amir, a resident of Karachi’s DHA, was allegedly kidnapped on January 6. The case gained widespread attention when the Sindh police held a press conference the following month. Six days later, Balochistan Police discovered a charred body in a burned vehicle, later identified as Mustafa’s, and handed it over to the Edhi Foundation.

On February 14, authorities claimed that Mustafa’s friends were responsible for his murder. They allegedly placed his body in his car’s trunk before setting it ablaze in Balochistan’s Dureji region. The breakthrough in the case came with the arrest of Sheraz, also known as Shavez Bukhari, a close associate of the prime suspect, Armaghan. Sheraz’s interrogation provided significant leads in the investigation.

Armaghan was eventually captured at a bungalow in DHA following a ransom demand of Rs20 million from Mustafa’s family. A police operation lasting four hours ensued, leading to the seizure of laptops and blood samples from the suspect’s residence. Investigators suspect that a dispute over a woman played a key role in the crime. Mustafa’s mother has also accused the same woman, who reportedly fled to the U.S. after the incident.

Legal Proceedings and Investigations

On February 15, an anti-terrorism court in Karachi remanded Sheraz into police custody until February 21. However, law enforcement faced setbacks in securing a physical remand for Armaghan, leading to criticism of the court’s decision. A legal expert later clarified that the police had not filed for a remand under the relevant charges at the time.

Additionally, three police officers were suspended due to their mishandling of the case. Meanwhile, police records revealed that Armaghan had a history of criminal activities, including extortion, drug dealing, and illegal weapon possession.

When an Aaj News journalist visited Armaghan’s home, they found a high-tech setup resembling a software house. Despite mounting evidence, Kamran Qureshi continued to defend his son, shifting blame onto Mustafa and alleging police corruption.

On February 17, a judicial magistrate approved Mustafa’s body exhumation for further investigation. A forensic medical team was formed, and on February 20, Armaghan allegedly confessed to the murder. Reports claim he taunted Mustafa with an opportunity to escape before setting him on fire.

Further inquiries linked Qureshi to financial crimes, with police investigating potential money laundering. Four additional individuals, including the son of a television actor, were detained, with one admitting to supplying drugs to Mustafa.

On February 23, Mustafa’s funeral took place at Masjid Ali in DHA, with his father rejecting any possibility of accepting blood money (“diyat”).

Revelations and Court Developments

By February 26, Shiraz Hussain confessed to his role in Mustafa’s murder. A subsequent police remand report confirmed Armaghan’s confession, and forensic evidence, including data retrieved from his laptop and phone, was sent to Punjab Forensic Lab for analysis.

On March 18, Mustafa’s mother, Wajiha Amir, dismissed Shiraz’s statement, calling it an attempt to shift blame. Meanwhile, a Karachi court officially dismissed a drug case against Mustafa, following a report from the Anti-Narcotics Force (ANF) Korangi on March 17.

The case took a dramatic turn when Kamran Qureshi allegedly threatened public prosecutor Zulfiqar Ali Arain on March 17, raising further concerns about witness intimidation and obstruction of justice.

Investigations are ongoing as authorities work to ensure justice for Mustafa Amir.
