Kuwait has officially lifted its long-standing visa ban on Pakistani citizens after nearly two decades, reopening avenues for work, travel, and family reunification.
According to Mustafa Malik, the focal person for the Ministry of Overseas Pakistanis, Kuwait has resumed the issuance of multiple visa categories for Pakistanis, including work, family, visit, tourist, and commercial visas. “All these visas are now accessible through the online portal,” he noted, highlighting a significant step forward in strengthening bilateral ties.
Malik emphasized that the move will create thousands of new opportunities for Pakistanis seeking employment, business prospects, or tourism in Kuwait. “The world is opening its doors to Pakistani talent, especially skilled workers,” he added.
The official also shared updates on Pakistan’s growing overseas employment prospects, stating that an annual job quota has been secured in Italy through a newly signed memorandum of understanding (MoU). Arab nations, too, are expressing strong interest in hiring skilled Pakistani professionals, he said.
Meanwhile, Pakistan’s Ambassador to Kuwait, Dr. Zaffar Iqbal, announced a new healthcare partnership that will see the deployment of 1,200 Pakistani nurses to Kuwait. The first batch of 125 nurses was set to arrive last week, but their arrival was postponed due to accommodation-related delays. Dr. Iqbal assured that the issue is being actively addressed and the group is expected to reach Kuwait in the coming days.
“I’m pleased to confirm that Kuwaiti authorities have resumed issuing a wide range of visas to Pakistani nationals starting this May,” he stated, marking a significant milestone in Pakistan-Kuwait relations.
