Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Monday honored the sacrifices of Pakistan’s police force, acknowledging their unwavering dedication to protecting the country and preserving law and order, even in the face of life-threatening challenges.
In his message commemorating Police Martyrs’ Day, the premier praised the officers and personnel who continue to stand guard in all conditions—often far from their families—and who have laid down their lives in service to the nation.
“Today, we remember and salute the courage of our police martyrs who gave everything to ensure peace and stability across Pakistan. We also extend our deepest respect to their families, who gave up their future for ours,” he said.
Highlighting the cost of the country’s ongoing fight against terrorism, the Prime Minister shared that over 8,000 members of the police force have embraced martyrdom. “As the frontline defenders, they have saved millions from the pain of losing loved ones by giving their own lives.”
He specifically mentioned the recent sacrifice of five Elite Force officers who were martyred during an anti-bandit operation in Rahim Yar Khan, emphasizing that every fallen officer represents the nation’s pride.
The Prime Minister further acknowledged the global recognition of Pakistan’s police force, citing their accolades at the World Police Summit 2025 as evidence of their professionalism. He praised the increasing use of modern technology in law enforcement, noting that it has significantly strengthened public safety and crime prevention efforts.
“The police have played a crucial role in the formation of anti-terrorism units across all provinces and have worked closely with the Pakistan Army and Rangers during crises, natural disasters, and emergencies,” he noted. “This cooperation has not only improved police performance but also positively changed public perception of the force.”
Reflecting on the broader security efforts, PM Shehbaz highlighted that the police have conducted hundreds of successful operations in recent years to thwart attempts to destabilize the country.
“From the coastal shores of Gwadar to the peaks of Gilgit-Baltistan, every police officer on duty represents the strength and spirit of Pakistan,” he concluded.
