The Sindh High Court has postponed the hearing of the drug case involving Sahir Hasan, son of actor Sajid Hasan, following his request. The hearing is now scheduled for March 26.

Sahir’s lawyer stated that he remains in jail on judicial remand after being charged with possession of five packets of cannabis, recovered during his arrest on February 22 in DHA Phase 6.

Meanwhile, Kamran Qureshi, father of Armaghan—the prime suspect in the Mustafa murder case—was arrested by the Anti-Violent Crime Cell (AVCC) on March 20. His video confession has been obtained by Aaj News.

Additionally, videos of Qureshi brandishing weapons, engaging in altercations, and posing have gone viral on social media, sparking public outrage. Authorities continue their investigation and anticipate further developments in the case.

Updates on the Mustafa Murder Case

The Mustafa murder case remains a top news story, involving the abduction and killing of 23-year-old Karachi resident Mustafa Amir.

Given the gravity of the case, careful reporting is crucial to avoid shaping public opinion before a court verdict is reached. Journalists must consider all available information and perspectives when covering this incident.

According to police investigations, Mustafa was allegedly abducted on January 6, but the case gained widespread attention after a police press conference in February. Six days later, Balochistan Police recovered a charred body inside a burned vehicle, later confirmed as Mustafa’s.

On February 14, authorities alleged that Mustafa’s friends killed him, placed his body in his car’s trunk, and set it ablaze in Dureji, Balochistan. Police arrested Sheraz, also known as Shavez Bukhari, a friend of the prime suspect, who revealed key details during interrogation.

Armaghan, the main suspect, was apprehended at a DHA residence following a ransom call demanding Rs20 million from Mustafa’s family. Police sources say a four-hour gunfight occurred during his arrest. Investigators later recovered laptops and bloodstained carpet samples from the scene. They believe a dispute over a woman may have triggered the conflict. Mustafa’s mother also accused the same woman, alleging she fled to the U.S. after the crime.

Legal Proceedings and Investigation Developments

On February 15, an anti-terrorism court (ATC) sent Sheraz to police custody until February 21. However, police failed to secure physical remand for Armaghan, which sparked criticism. A legal expert clarified that the case falls under ATC jurisdiction following the addition of Section 7 of the Anti-Terrorism Act.

Three police officers were suspended for negligence in handling the case.

Police records indicate Armaghan was a “habitual offender” with allegations of extortion, kidnapping, drug dealing, and illegal weapon possession. An Aaj News correspondent who visited his house noted its high-tech setup, suggesting it was used as a “software house.”

On February 17, a judicial magistrate approved the exhumation of Mustafa’s body, and a three-member medical panel was formed for examination. The next day, an ATC placed Armaghan under police custody for four more days and requested a medical report.

Interrogation reports indicate Mustafa and Armaghan were childhood friends. On February 20, Armaghan allegedly confessed to killing Mustafa, with chilling details suggesting he gave Mustafa a “chance to escape before setting him on fire.” Police later recovered the burned vehicle in Dureji.

When Kamran Qureshi appeared on Imran Sultan’s show Dus, he claimed to possess significant evidence and warned that “big names” would be exposed if the case proceeded. He demanded to be made his son’s chief investigator, citing his legal background and firearm license.

On February 22, an ATC extended Armaghan and Sheraz’s remand by five days. Police reported recovering two blood samples from Armaghan’s home, one allegedly belonging to a woman. Investigators are also looking into money laundering allegations against the suspect.

Meanwhile, four individuals, including a TV actor’s son, were arrested on March 17. One of them reportedly admitted to selling drugs to Mustafa. DNA tests confirmed the burned body found in Dureji was indeed Mustafa’s.

Court Rulings and Further Arrests

Mustafa’s funeral took place at Masjid Ali in DHA Karachi on February 23. His father refused to accept “diyat” (blood money).

On February 26, suspect Shiraz Hussain confessed to his role in Mustafa’s murder. Armaghan also recorded his confessional statement, which was confirmed in a police remand report. His seized laptop and phone were sent to Punjab Forensic Lab for examination on March 18.

Mustafa’s mother, Wajiha Amir, has made serious allegations against Armaghan, dismissing Shiraz’s statement as an attempt to protect himself.

On March 17, a Karachi court officially dropped a drug-related case against Mustafa Amir, based on a statement from the Station House Officer (SHO) of the Anti-Narcotics Force (ANF) Korangi.

On the same day, Armaghan’s father, Kamran Qureshi, allegedly threatened public prosecutor Zulfiqar Ali Arain.

Kamran Qureshi was arrested by the AVCC on March 21 in connection with the case.
