Rawalpindi: Dr. Khawaja Salman Rafique, Punjab’s Common Pastor for Specific Medical care and Clinical Schooling, visited the Division of Irresistible Sicknesses at Blessed Family Medical clinic (HFH) on Friday to evaluate the therapy being given to dengue patients conceded in the medical clinic’s dengue ward.

During the visit, the minister reviewed the hospital’s arrangements for dengue patients in coordination with the staff from Rawalpindi Medical College (RMC) and HFH. He also inquired about the progress of the departments in the newly constructed block of the hospital, which was recently handed over to the administration.

The hospital and RMC staff briefed the minister on pending work in several departments, including the Plastic Surgery Department and the dialysis unit within the Nephrology Department. They highlighted that work on the air conditioning system in the new block was still incomplete.

Dr. Jahangir Sarwar Khan, Principal of RMC and in-charge of the allied hospitals, informed the press that the minister instructed the Communication and Works Department of Punjab to release funds to the contractor working on the air handling units. The contractor assured the administration that the units would be operational within a week.

Additionally, the minister was updated on the burn unit within the Plastic Surgery Department, where construction of the operation theatre and ward was still ongoing. He promised full support in making these departments fully functional as soon as possible.

It was also noted that, out of 15 dialysis machines in the hospital, only eight are currently in operation. The hospital administration is working to ensure all machines become functional.

Following his visit to the dengue ward, the health minister held a meeting with the administrative and clinical staff involved in managing dengue cases. He reviewed the hospital’s readiness to handle the surge in dengue patients, expressing satisfaction with the care being provided. The minister praised the efforts of the hospital staff and urged them to continue offering the same level of care and free treatment for all dengue patients.

It is worth noting that over 50 percent of dengue patients from Islamabad are seeking treatment at the allied hospitals, particularly HFH, for dengue management.
