ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has established a task force, chaired by Interior Minister Syed Mohsin Naqvi, to identify individuals involved in recent unrest and violence in Islamabad and ensure strict action against them.

The task force includes Minister for Law and Justice Azam Nazeer Tarar, Minister for Economic Affairs Ahad Khan Cheema, Information Minister Attaullah Tarar, and representatives from security forces.

During a high-level meeting on the law and order situation, the prime minister also announced the formation of a Federal Riot-Control Force to prevent future incidents of violence. The new force will receive professional training and modern equipment in line with international standards.

Additionally, the meeting approved the establishment of a Federal Forensic Lab to leverage advanced technology for evidence collection and investigation of such incidents. Plans were also made to modernize the Islamabad Safe City project and strengthen the federal prosecution service.

Prime Minister Shehbaz emphasized that Pakistan is on a path to stability and progress, asserting that enemies of the country’s development would not succeed.

Referring to the recent unrest, he stated, “A handful of disruptors do not represent the honorable Pashtun community,” and commended the rejection of the November 24 violence by the people of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and the broader Pakistani public.

He called on all citizens to work together to thwart attempts that threaten the nation’s economic and national security.

The meeting was attended by Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar, Federal Ministers Khawaja Asif, Ahad Khan Cheema, Azam Nazeer Tarar, and Attaullah Tarar, Advisor to the PM Rana Sanaullah, Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz, Chief of Army Staff General Asim Munir, Senior Minister Marriyum Aurangzeb, and other senior officials.
