ISLAMABAD— The Pakistani government has decided to revoke passports and impose strict measures on citizens deported from foreign countries, according to recent media reports.
The decision was taken during a high-level meeting chaired by Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi in Islamabad on Saturday. Attendees included Minister of State for Interior Talal Chaudhry, Interior Secretary Capt. (R) Khurram Agha, the Director General of the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA), and the Director General of Passports.
As part of the new policy, deportees will face multiple penalties, including cancellation of passports, a five-year inclusion on the passport control list, the lodging of First Information Reports (FIRs), and a ban on the issuance of any additional travel documents.
To ensure effective implementation, a special committee headed by Interior Secretary Khurram Agha has been established.
Interior Minister Naqvi emphasized the importance of safeguarding Pakistan’s international image, stating that individuals who tarnish the country’s reputation abroad will face strict consequences. He reiterated a zero-tolerance policy, stressing that there will be no leniency toward deportees moving forward.
