ISLAMABAD: Over 500 employment opportunities have been offered to Pakistani graduates by 20 prominent Chinese companies operating in Pakistan. These opportunities were presented at a job fair held at the Pak-China Friendship Centre on Tuesday.
The event, organized by the China Chamber of Commerce in Pakistan (CCCPK) in collaboration with the National Vocational and Technical Training Commission (NAVTTC) and supported by the Chinese embassy, was held under the theme “Bridging Skills: Building Futures.”
Chinese Ambassador Jiang Zaidong and Federal Minister for Education and Professional Training Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui officially inaugurated the fair.
Minister of State for Education Wajiha Qamar described the fair as more than just a recruitment event. “It reflects Pakistan’s growing potential and the readiness of our youth to shape the country’s future,” she said. She noted that young men, women, madressah students, and individuals with disabilities were now gaining critical modern skills in areas such as IT, AI, e-learning, and game development.
“China has always stood with Pakistan like a true partner,” she added. “Together, we’re not only constructing infrastructure but also securing futures.”
Minister Counselor at the Chinese embassy, Yang Guangyuan, reaffirmed the strong China-Pakistan relationship, particularly as the second phase of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) begins. He noted that this phase will emphasize manufacturing and is expected to create more employment opportunities for Pakistanis.
“Pakistan’s youth are its greatest strength,” he said, adding that Chinese firms have already employed over 30,000 Pakistanis under CCCPK member companies. He also highlighted that Chinese companies plan to expand operations in Pakistan, further boosting job prospects.
NAVTTC Chairperson Gulmina Bilal praised CCCPK for its ongoing collaboration and stressed the importance of skills training. “Our trained workforce includes women, differently-abled individuals, and religious students,” she said. “Skills development is the foundation of progress — a lesson well demonstrated by China.”
She expressed optimism about launching a series of similar job fairs across other regions of Pakistan, extending this employment initiative nationwide.
