Islamabad (Hayat News) An advisory has been issued in view of the fear of Indian cyber attacks on government and defense institutions. According to media reports, the Cabinet Division says that Indian hackers are trying to target the systems of Pakistan’s government and defense institutions under the guise of the Pahalgam incident. In this regard, a special cybersecurity advisory has been issued in which the fear of cyberattacks on government social media accounts and digital platforms has been expressed.
The advisory says that Indian hackers are trying to spread the virus through suspicious emails, WhatsApp messages, and other sources. These messages usually attach files with malware viruses titled “Pahalgam incident,” which, when opened, have the ability to steal confidential data, images, and information present in the device. The advisory has directed all government institutions to exercise extreme caution.
The authorities say in the advisory that emails received from unknown sources should not be opened and should be ignored, that any file or attachment should be scanned with a reputable antivirus before opening it, that suspicious emails or messages should be immediately reported to the IT admin of the relevant institution, that the hackers aim to access sensitive government and defense information and that they are likely supported by a cyber espionage network in India, and that all federal and provincial institutions are warned to update their digital security protocols, keep firewalls and antivirus systems active, and provide training to employees to stay safe from these attacks.
