ISLAMABAD: A District and Sessions Court in Islamabad on Saturday issued a bailable arrest warrant for Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur in a case related to the recovery of liquor and illegal arms.
Judicial Magistrate Mubashir Chishti directed the police to ensure Gandapur’s presence at the next hearing after rejecting his request for exemption from appearance. The case has been adjourned until July 21.
In a separate hearing, the court also took up cases linked to the Azadi March involving several Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leaders and workers. Summonses were issued for Ali Amin Gandapur and Shafqat Mahmood after police submitted challans. For other accused who failed to appear, the magistrate issued bailable arrest warrants and adjourned proceedings until July 24. Both Azadi March cases were registered at the Bara Kahu police station.
Meanwhile, Additional Sessions Judge Nasr Minullah Baloch heard the audio leak case against Gandapur. The KP chief minister sought exemption from attendance, citing bail granted to him by the Peshawar High Court until September 23. His lawyer, Raja Zahoor-ul-Hassan, requested the court to delay indictment proceedings. The court adjourned the hearing until September 29.
It is worth noting that a separate FIR regarding the audio leak was filed at Golra police station against Gandapur and others.
