The Food Authority’s operation against substandard papad/snacks/salanti/juices in the suburbs of Muzaffarabad continues for the second day; the crackdown on substandard items intensified. After Muzaffarabad city, the Food Authority’s operations are also continuing in the suburbs.
The scope of the special operation launched yesterday was further expanded today, and a detailed search was conducted in small and big markets and shops in various adjoining areas, including Jabbar, Panjgran, Deoliyan, Dhani, and Kanwar.
During the operation, substandard, unregistered, and unlicensed food items sold without laboratory reports were recovered from several places, including badkhas, papads, snacks, salantis, colored toffees, and various types of juices. The Food Authority team immediately seized all the defective and suspicious products and set them on fire on the spot.
According to the authorities, indiscriminate action will be taken against such items that do not meet the standards, which do not have legal registration or laboratory verification. The Food Authority has clarified that this operation is not a temporary one but a continuous one, which will be further expanded to ensure the provision of safe and quality food to the citizens.
The public and traders have been appealed to to avoid buying items from unregistered suppliers, while any suspicious or substandard food should be reported immediately to the Food Authority helpline 1280.
