Anmol was detained earlier this week from her Karachi apartment in connection with two separate cases involving narcotics possession and an unlicensed weapon. Authorities say she had already been facing several criminal cases before her latest arrest.
During proceedings on Saturday, magistrates from South, Central, and Malir districts reserved verdicts on police requests seeking her physical remand in 15 different cases.
She was later produced before Karachi Central Special Sunday Magistrate Abdul Sattar in a case registered under the Sindh Control of Narcotic Substances Act 2024 at the Specialized Investigation Unit (SIU/CIA) police station.
In a separate development, another magistrate granted police a two-day remand of Anmol in a murder case registered at Baghdadi police station. However, in the remaining 13 cases, courts rejected police requests for physical custody and instead sent her on judicial remand.
Police had requested 14-day custody in the SIU narcotics case, but the court approved a six-day remand, stating that the investigation officer’s arguments were “reasonable and convincing.”
According to court documents, Anmol claimed she had been arrested on May 15 and alleged mistreatment by police officials during custody.
The judge directed the investigation officer to ensure that the suspect undergoes a medical examination by a female medico-legal officer and receives proper treatment if required.
SIU Investigation Officer Shaukat Ali informed the court that Anmol was wanted in a 2025 narcotics case after a delivery rider allegedly linked to her network was arrested in Karachi’s Central District. Advocate Liaquat Ali Gabol represented the accused in court.
During one of the hearings, Anmol requested that her face not be fully covered with a chador, saying she was having difficulty breathing. The judge advised her to keep it on to avoid disturbance from the public.
Murder Case and Other Allegations
While appearing before South Special Duty Magistrate Murtaza in the murder case, Anmol reportedly raised objections in court, alleging that police were attempting to force her into giving a statement under pressure.
She claimed she had been arrested in Lahore 22 days earlier and subjected to torture during detention. She also described the cases against her as fabricated.
The magistrate assured her that the court would hear both her and her lawyer’s arguments fairly and that no harassment would be tolerated inside the courtroom.
Court records in the murder case allege that Anmol operated a large narcotics network involving riders, suppliers, dealers, manufacturers, and managers.
According to investigators, the victim in the case allegedly died after consuming narcotics said to be connected to the accused’s brand and delivery chain.
Defense lawyer Advocate Hidaytullah Khan opposed the police remand request, arguing that labels carrying Anmol’s name and brand had allegedly been tampered with on jars recovered from the deceased.
The lawyer further claimed that Anmol’s former husband, Rana Nasir, had implicated her in the cases following their divorce.
Before another hearing, Special Investigation Officer Darakhshan Maqbool stated that Anmol would face proceedings in 10 new cases along with four older ones. Police also intend to seek further custody to arrest additional suspects who are at large.
Earlier Police Action
On May 12, police presented Anmol before a judicial magistrate in Karachi South, who refused police custody and sent her to jail on judicial remand. A district court later granted police a three-day remand, which ended on Saturday.
Karachi police say they have launched a wide-ranging investigation after initial findings suggested that foreign nationals may also be involved in the narcotics network.
Meanwhile, Punjab police have reportedly reopened three old cases against Anmol and her brothers in Lahore and may seek her transfer from Sindh custody.
Police in Bahawalpur and Hasilpur have also intensified efforts to arrest Tahir Saleem, an alleged member of Anmol’s nationwide drug distribution network, after his name surfaced during investigations.
