Bushra Bibi, the wife of former prime minister Imran Khan, has filed a petition in the Islamabad High Court seeking a complete medical examination and treatment for her eyes. The petition was filed on Saturday through her counsel, Barrister Salman Safdar.

The petition asks the court to order the formation of a five-member medical board, including a specialist eye doctor, to examine her. It further requests that her eye treatment be carried out at the Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences in Islamabad, or at a private hospital if needed.

According to the petition, a medical board of the Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences conducted her eye check-up on November 6. It says her eye treatment began on February 9, 2026, and her next check-up had been scheduled for June 4, 2026. The petition states that she is suffering from an eye disease that is progressing and that her vision is deteriorating.

The petition also says she has been deprived of the basic facilities available to women prisoners. It asks the court to ensure that she receives proper medical care and regular check-ups while in custody at Adiala Jail in Rawalpindi.

Bushra Bibi is serving a seven-year sentence in the 190 million pound corruption case, and her appeal against the conviction is pending before the high court. Her health has been a matter of concern for her family and her party, and her husband has directed his legal team to focus on her case and pursue all legal avenues to secure relief for her medical treatment, according to reports this week.

Her family has also continued to press the court for regular meetings and access to a personal physician for her, and for the provision of essential items during her custody. The petition filed on Saturday is the latest in a series of applications before the high court concerning her health and her meetings with family members and lawyers.

The Islamabad High Court is separately seized of a petition filed by her daughter seeking permission for family meetings, access to a personal physician and provision of essential items to Bushra Bibi, on which the court has reserved its verdict. The court has also been hearing matters relating to the couple’s meetings with family members and lawyers at Adiala Jail.
